Transitioning the Old Federal Courthouse into the Hattiesburg Municipal Court required numerous accessibility upgrades, most intensive of which was the addition of a new elevator serving three levels. In order to preserve the historical layout of the building, the elevator enclosure is constructed as a free standing element utilizing a similar material palette of brick cladding with a marble base. A contemporary glass transition delicately connects the two structures.
